Illinois adopts the FDA Food Code
On July 29, 2016, the Illinois Department of Public Health officially adopted amendments to the Illinois Food Service Sanitation Code to incorporate the FDA 2013 Model Food Code. Many sections of the Illinois Food Code were replaced with sections of the FDA Food Code, while some sections (i.e. Food Manager Requirements, Food Handler Requirements) will remain. Furthermore, not all chapters and annexes of the FDA Food Code were adopted in Illinois. Mason County will officially implement the FDA Food Code January 1, 2018.
The Mason County Health Department is offering classes to all food establishment owners and managers to go over the major changes that the FDA Food Code will bring. If you are an owner or manager of a food establishment who would still like to submit a registration form for this class, please contact the MCHD EH Division. The class dates are listed on our website calendar.
